April 9, 2002

I had started feeling the baby move at various times - not really continuous but more
staggered. It is a wonderful feeling.

I had to meet Dr. Lurvey today. I went to the hospital around 3 p.m. and could meet
Dr. Lurvey immediately. He picked up the "swoosh-swoosh" sound of the baby’s
heartbeat using a handheld ultrasound device called a Doppler. It also sounded
like a galloping horse! He said that I was doing absolutely OK and that baby is
also just the right size. He asked me to come for my next visit after 4 weeks and
take the glucose-screening test, which is normally done between the 24th and 28th
week of pregnancy to test for gestational diabetes.

The appointment was accordingly made for the 6th May ’02. I couldn’t get an
appointment with Dr. Lurvey, as he wasn’t available. Instead I was going to meet
          Dr. Mikael Brisinger.

April 10 - April 25, 2002 - Pre-Natal Classes

We had the prenatal classes scheduled between this period. It was a series of
4 classes - one per week. The topics included "Labor and Delivery",
"Breast Feeding", "New Born Care" and "Postpartum Care". All the classes were
in the evening between 6 and 8 p.m. met a lot of moms and dads to be and made
a few friends too. Our faculty was Ms. Gwen Brown, a Lactation Consultant with
Kaiser Permanente. She was extremely good and made all the classes very lively.
There were video sessions at the end of every class and on the whole, it was a
wonderful learning experience attending all those classes. It reminded of our
nostalgic!! days in college. Sathish and I took all the courses and we were
presented with a certificate at the end, to certify that we have attended all
          the pre-natal classes.

If you are pregnant, and don’t have an opportunity to attend the classes,
please contact us. We are certified to give you some useful tips
