Preface

On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Speleo Club Roma (SCR) foundation, Giorgio Pasquini compiled, the 5 May 1988, his own story of the events which contributed to come the event true.

Subsequently he wrote a lot about the first activities of the new-born SCR, with particular regard to the explorations of the caves on the Carseolani Mountains.

Six months before his death, and just a short time before the illness will got worse and worse, Giorgio became to write, on some little notebooks that he usually called - as military habit - "librette", numerous stories of his life, with the name of "novellette".

Formerly, in the summertime 1994, he had become to write, almost day by day on foolscap squared sheets of paper he called "diarietto" (small day-book), notes, reflections, resolutions of those days; later on, towards the end of 1997, he continued to write his day-book on disjoined sheets like those of his "librette" notebooks.

Then he gave his friends the job of reading the stories and the notebooks, with the request to get them back, with the intention, in the future, of publishing them.

I have had the opportunity to read a lot of pages of the "diarietto" and the stories of the "librette", always giving back all them to Giorgio.

When he died, I was able to recover the two "librette", but only few pages of the "diarietto", those between 11 December 1997 and 17 January 1998. Those were the latest he wrote, then he became to feel worse and worse, and he wasn’t able to write anymore.

Thanks to the precious work of Alberta Felici, the manuscripts of Giorgio have been suitably collected and put in a personal computer.
Here there are those about the SCR and his speleologist friends.

We know how Giorgio was inattentive to take care of his own matter; but, I am sure, he treated his writings with particular care, to allow his friends to read them, having arranged the work somehow.

Where did the notebooks got to?
Whoever should have collected or known something about the notebooks, would be well, I believe, to Giorgio and to all his friends if he would give same information to Alberta and to the undersigned, that commit themselves to publish them.

The SCR foundation, the exploration of the Carseolani Mountains, the speleologist memories have been collected, to remind Giorgio, after one year from his death.
