My Prefect´s history

My own Ford Prefect E93A 1947 was imported (new) from England to Brazil by a car sealer Bernardo Chazan and sold to Luiza Antonello (my grand-grandmother) , who has a minimarket, in May 10, 1948.
Jenny Antonello was the Prefect´s driver because only she has a license to drive. Jenny drived the Prefect until she bought a new car, a Ford Corcel 1975, and then she decided to sale the Prefect. When my uncle, Julio Castro, discovered that, he decided to stay with the car to restore it.
After all that years using the car, he had a lot of parts that weren´t original and was with a lot of mechanical problems too, but my uncle was really decided to restore that car. He send the car to a mechanic who restored almost everything, almost. Some parts, like the tires, couldn´t be restored and then my uncle decided to put the Prefect in a garage and the car stay there for a long time.
When I, Fernando Hilzendeger, was young, I have fear of that big black thing in the garage. After I growed up, my fear was over, then I started to play in the Prefect and decided to wash that beautiful machine. At this moment, I decided that I would finish the restoration of the Prefect and I persuaded my father to buy new tires.
My father call to a friend who send the tires from Uruguai (South America - a country near Brazil) and then I knew that this time was serios and the Prefect will be new again. When I was younger, My brother tryed to restored the car but my father didn´t tougth that he would finish.
I fixed some litle troubles like the windshield wipers, the car color, the fuel tank... After this, my car was ready to run in the streets of Porto Alegre (Brazil - RS), of course, with some oil leak...
Recently, I fixed up his engine and breaks. My car is already licensed with black license plate to road without some parts that weren´t original (for the security of the passengers, at most cases)
At the moment, I´m trying to fix the gearbox that has problems since 1997 when it broked at the first time. I bought some original mechanical parts that was taken off of a Prefect that was not roading any more. With this parts I´m trying to fix the second speed of my gearbox and the rest of gears because there is one hard problem that we couldn´t find and make noises on the gearbox...
I´m always looking for new information about this car and when I could find someone new I´ll publicize at this webpage. Thank you for your visit and sorry for the bad english...
