"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself" (Mt.6:34, AV)
"Give thanks to God in all things, rejoicing in each task which He giveth unto thee, murmuring not, nor complaining...All things unto Me are spiritual, saith the Lord, so whether ye praise Me when ye are about menial tasks, or when ye are proclaiming Me, it mattereth not, for in both ye are cultivating the light" (NC&C 66:1,3).
There is a song in the musical film, Mary Poppins, which goes:
"In every task that must be done,
there is an element of fun."The truth of this hit me powerfully as I was tidying in the kitchen one day. I had promised myself a treat after I had finished doing it but then I understood that that was a sin because you should enjoy the moment there and then instead of living for the future. I made washing the dishes into a game so I actually enjoyed the task in itself. And since then I have tried this formula in every job I undertake. And it works!
