I was born in the capital of Norway (Oslo) as my parents fourth child, since then they have had 10 more. My parents were Latter Day Saints (Mormons). I was deaf as a baby, my relatives (especially my grandmother prayed a lot for me) and when I received my blessing through a man my mother has always viewed to be a sincere believer in Yahweh, (Mormons bless the babies) I was promised that I would be able to hear. When I was three months old I started hearing. When I was eight years old I chose to be baptized in the denomination my parents then attended.
At about the same time we moved to the countryside, about 100 km north of Oslo. We were nine children at that time, I didn't find it easy to get friends in the place we moved to but I found comfort in and enjoyed the company of my brother's and sister's.
One time after church when I was eleven, my mother had received some material from someone who were witnessing to us - the LDS (Mormon) members. My mother was very moved by what she read, and decided to meet with them (the ones that were witnessing). She went to one of their meetings (alone) and was so impressed that she brought us with her the next time. That was my first encounter with New Covenant Church of God (NCCG). After a short while, our family left the Mormon Church (my father was already inactive at the time) and many of us became members of NCCG.
Since then I have remained one, but my family has now left. I am sad about the separation this has brought, but I know (contrary to Mormon teaching) that they can still be saved and lead Christian lives. My greatest regret though is that my father and some of my brothers and sisters have declared that they don't believe in or have any respect for a God who is like what the Bible describes Him to be. My mother's and my eldest sister's faith is a joy to me. Another person who's faith is a balsam in my life is my Grandmother. Though we don't agree on all the particulars, we all have a taste of Yahweh and his love.
My second family. When I got married, has brought me great joy too. We all take part of the same Ruach (Spirit) and enjoy union and agreement in almost every area in life. The Lord lets us discover new things all the time, both individually and as a body - through the Bible, prayer, experiences, and by just being together teaching and learning from each other.
The fact that we are living together with most of the church members in one area (including my mother's sister and her two children), is very helpful in this respect. Interaction between people, when done after Yahweh's pattern, is always edifying and glorious:
"All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." (Acts 2:44-47)
"Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 2:2-5)
I have always had faith in Yahweh and Yah'shua (Jesus), but misconceptions have been progressively weeded out, and I am aware that He is still working with me in many areas. I didn't start out with all the answers - but I have faith that they are all there to be found. Reality, or truth, is constant and it will defend itself if we honestly wish to see it.
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." (John 14:6-7)
Let us all seek the source of truth, so that we can be free from the power of Satan's lies. Let us not be tricked but cleave to Him who is true, Yah'shua (Jesus) our saviour. Let us be like a child who hears things and then goes and asks: "Father is that true?" Because we know who we can trust! This is the way I want my life to be, don't you?
