How do I get in contact? As in all relationships there has to be a willingness in both parties for contact to be established. There are certain conditions that have to be in place before we can get to know Yahweh and His Son Yah'shua (Jesus). The Bible says of Yahweh that:
This indicates that in order to have a good relationship with Yahweh, we cannot be proud. We also need to be blameless, pure and righteous, in other words; perfect. Yah'shua (Jesus) said:
This is the standard that is required of us by God and He himself lives up to it, as does Yah'shua. Now every honest human being will know that they have made mistakes. Not just once, but almost constantly. Just one imperfect action is enough to make it impossible for us to communicate with Yahweh - we have messed it up.
But since Yahweh is good, He has provided a way to dispose of our sins and therefore eliminate the guilt and judgement. He sent His own son Yah'shua (Jesus), who lived perfectly and paid the death penalty that each and every one of us have contracted through our lawless behaviour.
"Oh" you may object "I know I haven't done everything right, but I haven't sinned so badly that I deserve to die!". Let me show you why by every legal right you should be exterminated on the spot..
The law our Creator in His goodness has established is that life should be preserved and grow into what He created it to be. Anyone who destroys life or restricts it from full growth is sinning and deserves to be removed or restricted from causing more harm. This applies even when the harm is aimed at ourselves, because we are all His creation and do not own ourselves.
Yah'shua (Jesus) summed up this law: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matt 22:37-40)
If you have not always loved the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, you have neglected yourself and crippled your own growth, and if you have not always loved your neighbor as yourself, you have been harmful to other peoples growth! If you have ever harboured any thought of extermination of your own or other peoples lives, your words and actions will not have been nourishing and instead harmful, either by neglect or actively. Now if you think back on your actions towards yourself and others, especially those in your own family, are you sure you have the right to live? Have you been loyal to the reason you were created? I don't think anyone honestly can conclude that thay haven't hurt Yahweh's creation in any way and only made it prosper. We've failed, and in truth we have no right to continue..
Ironically though, once we have come to the point where we are willing to confess this with all our soul, we are closer to getting near Him than ever before. Just like someone who admits he is ill is closer to letting himself get healed than one who denies it. The next step is going to the doctor. In Christian language this is called 'repentance' which means that one decides to go to Yah'shua, ask Him to take away our sins and decide to obey the law.
As soon as we have humbled ourselves and let our sins be removed, we become the way we were created to be and suddenly we are, blameless, pure and righteous, in other words; perfect. At that point we can actually get in contact with the Maker Himself! This is what Christians call, being born again. After having lived in sin and lawlessness, this new way of living is very alien and a lot of things have to be re-learned. That is when we meet the third 'person' in the Elohim (God) - the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) - for the frist time in a conscious way. Actually we are all familiar with her from the day we are born, she is the one who gives the nudging feeling usually described as a 'bad conscience' - she is the reminder of our Creator's law and the confirmer of truth even when we want to believe a lie. Yet by repetative sinning and reinforcements of lies, we stop noticing her and are unable to tell right from wrong. Until we repent and ask Yah'shua to take the cup of judgement away from us.
