The man in the alleyway
Feels no reason for cheer,
As everyone around him
Can sense Christmas is near.

Instead he just lies there,
So tired, so forlorn,
And awaits the Christmas present
Of a brighter day at dawn.

People fail to remember him
As they gather to meet.
There's little thought concerning him
Or others on the street.

The best pressent he could have
Would be food, friendship, and warmth.
The necessities we take for granted
As we wake on Christmas morn.
