Tuesday morning we set out on another one of our little walks. We basically took the ferry across the River Yare and then walked to Loddon! I remember it well.. :)
We arrived in Loddon, and sat outside the fire station for a bit. (The fact I made friends with a really cute wasp has nothing to do with it!) Anyway, can't remember how we found out, but somebody told us a Christian worked in the Post Office, so a couple of us made our way there, leaving the others at the fire station.
The lady at the Post Office wasn't all that helpful, really, but she said we could go back later. When we returned to the others, as a joint decision we decided she probably wouldn't be all that helpful to us, so we continued searching for shelter.
There we were, sitting on a bench at a T-junction, minding our own business, when it happened! Jo spotted some guy in a car who she quite liked the look of, so she went over to speak to him (-about God, of course!!). She spotted a Bible on his seat and so asked if he was a Christian. He was indeed, and he was our link to finding a place for us to stay! He took us to his fiances house, and they promptly set us up with a big tent and a caravan. (We let the guys have the latter due to the amount of space us girls needed as a whole!)
Virtually as soon as we got there, I had a shower. What luxury!! Anyway, the rest were down stairs, and I was in a kind of hurry to join them, not least of all because dinner would be ready soon! In the process of hurrying, I managed to loose my footing on the stairs just as they were talking about the Plum jam incident! Trust me to make an entrance!!!
As we talked, Ree, the lady of the house, and Steve, came to a realization that they'd met before! The last time they met, Steve was crying his heart out as he realized what a sinner he was and made a commitment to God. What a small world it is! :)
That evening, we decided to try to find some youth to talk to. Ree's son told us that there was a playing field by the school where a lot of people hung out, so we decided to give it a try.
Didn't take that long to find it, and sure enough, there was youth! I can't remember how we started off talking to them, but I can sure enough remember how the evening finished!! It was on the roundabout. I long to return to that roundabout upon which as it spun, all the conversations upon it and around it were about God. Was totally awesome!!
Two people made commitments to God, but I feel a lot more seeds were planted :)
The next day, we were by the river on another bench. Jo and myself were asked to speak to a certain young man who looked a bit lost. We did indeed talk to him. He said he was a Christian, but neither of us were convinced it was in his heart. He gave us his address so we could keep in touch with him, but he never wrote back to me. He's one of those people you don't tend to forget...
It started to rain, so the others left me and Jo talking for a while until we caught up with them. Steve and Will decided to hitch-hike back, so they got back to Al and Ree's warm and dry, whereas us girls looked like a bunch o drowned rats!!!
Can't say I really enjoyed camping in the rain, but I'm sure it could have been worse... :)
