FennecTheFox's Strategy Guide

The end result of the battle. If I had attacked this force head on, the roles might have been reversed.

In the late game you will want to spawn Defilers. Research 'consume' Dark Swarm is the only spell you will need vs Terran. Watch out for drops. I normally place a Sunken and a Lurker at each expand to prevent any stim drops. Try to form a half circle of units away from his natural (near his 2nd natural if it's near his natural..) When he pushes out, you can flank him, or if he has more than you - you can at least slow the rate at which he moves across the map. There's no point in leaving your units at home. Once you get Defilers the game is pretty much yours. Defilers under swarm can only be harmed by FireBats. Not even Tanks and their splash damage can affect Lurkers under Swarm. Once you aquire a 1-2 Defilers consume a few Lings, and press into the Terran's expansion(s). Run 5-6 units into the fray to draw enemy fire, so you can cast Dark Swarm with your Defilers and still have enough time to get out of the way, undamaged.

As soon as you pop those Lurkers up, they're all dead. :  )

Things to look out for.

  • Just remember to keep a close eye on your opponent at the beginning of the game, when you're placing Sunkens/morphing Lurkers. He will try to attack sometime around there.

Ways in which to counter this strategy.

  • If the Terran builds his Barracks on 8, he can offensive Bunker you pretty quickly. Now, if you went 10 Drone/Overlord/Expand like I mentioned, you should be able to deal with this threat a lot easier. You may have to pull Drones to help attack the SCV building the Bunker or the Bunker itself. You can also take the Drones ahead of the Bunker and kill the incoming Marines.
