FennecTheFox's Strategy Guide
The Hydra player has no choice but to spread his forces as illustrated in this picture. It would require too many Spore colonies to deter an attacking force of Mutalisks. Make sure you spread your Overlords around the map to for the best recon possible. This will A.) Notify you of enemy drops B.) Alert you on the whearabouts of your enemies forces. And C.) Enable you to view any expansion attempts. Look for openings where ever possible. It is vital that you try to keep your opponent contained as much as possible. The longer you let your opponent mass up, the more difficult it will be to capture the win. He will most likely leave his main the most defenceless of all. Try to attack his main. Take out any key buildings. Evolution Chambers should be targeted first - followed by his Hydra Den, and his Lair/Hive. Your opponent will be forced to pull forces from his expansions to assist the force of Hydras in his main, when it becomes too much to handle, take your swarm of Mutalisks to one of his expansions, and attack. As you aquire 4 groups of Mutalisks, all it takes is 1 shot from each Mutalisk to level a Hatchery, and you can fly off virtually untouched. Direct confrontation with a mass of Hydralisks is strongly advised against. Mutalisks are not meant to combat large amounts of Hyrdalisks, they should be used as 'hit and run' tools of destruction. Later on your opponent will spawn Defilers and spread them to his expansions. Dark Swarm and Plague will be commonly used. Your Mutalisks will have a hard time combating his Hydralisks. Try not to sit in one position for long periods of time. Make your opponent waste his Defilers mana. You can even produce Queens and Broodling his Defilers, then proceed to attack. Things to watch out for.
