[LATEST NEWS] [Square Reconsiders Movies] After posting negative financial results for the year, Square has confirmed plans to curtail movie development. More specifically, Square executives have openly apologized to shareholders for the enormous cost in producing their first feature film, Final Fantasy: The Movie. Set to debut in American theaters this July, the movie's budget has risen to $140 million, double its projected cost. As a result, Square plans to reorganize their movie development subsidiary to handle CG and special effects production for other film companies.
