Cause and Effect

What do we mean by
Cause and Effect? Really, it's just the reverse of what we are used to thinking about:

The egg broke
because I dropped it.
(What happened is the effect)
(Why it happened is the cause)

Here are some other examples:

The student studied every night. The student got an 'A' on the spelling test.
The student forgot to study The student did not get san 'A' on the test.
The student left her lunch money at home. The student had to borrow again.
The student remembered to bring her permission slip. The student went on the field trip.

Her shoes were untied. She tripped.
He stayed out late. He fell asleep at work.

Sometime a chain of events is created when something happens. Let's take a look at this example:

He stayed out late.

He fell asleep at work.
He lost his job.
He had no income.
He couldn't pay his bills.
He was evicted from his apartment.

Yikes! You can see where this one is headed!

Let's look at a more positive Cause and Effect:

He took night classes in computers.

He troubleshooted computers at work.
The boss noticed him.
He got a promotion.
He bought a new house and lived happily ever after.
