What is a Noun?

A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea. For example:

Common Nouns - Common nouns name any person, place, thing, or idea. Common nouns are capitalized only when they appear in a title, or at the beginning of a sentence.

Proper Nouns - Proper nouns name a specific person, place, thing, or idea. They always begin with a capital letter. Days of the week, months of the year, holidays, street names, cities, states, as well as people's names, all begin with capital letter.
