HoBo Films

HoBo Films is a New York based production company founded in 1993.
President: Olga Schubart

HoBo Films specializes in promoting and advancing Portuguese culture, particularly Portuguese Cinema. It organizes and sponsors cultural exchanges between Portugal and other countries through a series of annual events - conferences, Cinema retrospectives, exhibitions, etc.

In 2001 it is coordinating The Academic Look International Film Festival (TALIFF), at the Lusófona University in Lisbon.

In 2000 it was responsible for the Contemporary Issues International Film Festival of Loulé, in Algarve.

Films produced:
Lisboa/USA, 50', Betacam, 1998. Documentary about American towns named Lisbon and their affinities and contrasts with Lisbon, Portugal. Sponsored by ICAM, Metropolitano de Lisboa, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, Banco Totta e Açores, ICEP.

Of Skin & Metal, 15', 16mm, 1996. Documentary on the Body Piercing community of New York City. 1st. prize for "Short Documentary" at Raindance Film Festival, London and at Empire State Exhibitions, New York.
