Celeste

All summer long
Each and every night
You shone so bright
Shining for me alone
I'd look at you
See you twinkling
And feel at home
People would have thought
I needed no Sun
As long as I had you
But you were not mine to have
You belong to the ages
And not to me
The nights you hid from me
Seemed like an eon
But always you would return
Always until now
Now these walls surround me
Hide you from my sight
Each and every night
You are clouded from my vision
I sit cloaked in darkness
I sit alone in darkness
Not even a moon
To guide me to you
Candles keep me company
But they hold no flame to you
You shine to put the moon itself to shame
I'm forced to place upon myself the blame
I've ensured the disconnection
And now I seek one last redemption
I seek yet one last dance 'neath starry sky
Before I hang my head at last to die
