Cars I've had -- Gone but Not Forgotten! Page 4 |
A fellow in my Buick club had this '51 Pontiac Chieftan Eight for sale back in '74. It had 39,000 miles and was totally original, and ran like a Swiss watch. I bought the car for $425, which included a shop manual and a color & trim book. I used this car as a daily driver for over a year. I sold it in 1976 and the fellow who bought it still owns the car to this day! |
This Caravan Gold '62 Pontiac Bonneville Sport Coupe was a one-owner 56,000 mile original, with factory air conditioning! '62 is my favorite year for Pontiacs and of the '62s I've owned, this was my favorite. The rare all-fabric interior had been covered in plastic since new and the entire car just sparkled! |
Pontiac called the color on this '62 Catalina convertible 'Kimberley Blue'. I first saw this car for sale at Carlisle in 1975. I didn't buy the car, however, until 1985, paying more than twice the price that was asked 10 years previously. A great original car despite the troublesome Slim Jim hydromatic. |
Laverne was our 1960 DeSoto Adventurer hardtop coupe, and she's a rare beast indeed, as only 3,092 were produced during DeSoto's last calendar year of production. In November 1960, soon after the introduction of the '61 models, DeSoto production came to an end after 32 years. She's finished in Winterberry Red over Shell White, and other than a repaint in 1989, new carpeting and some engine detailing, Laverne is mostly original. In fact, she remained in the original owner's possession until 1995. We added her to our collection in March of 1999, and sold her in the fall of 2001. |
