The Society was formed in 1973 by a number of
enthusiasts who had met at local evening classes. The aim
of the Society is to advance public appreciation of geology
by observation, discussion, field studies, research,
illustrated talks and exhibitions. Membership has grown
steadily to about 100 and embraces all age groups from 16
years upwards, regardless of gender or race, and includes
those with widely diversified interests. The
Society always welcomes new members, whatever their
knowledge of the subject. We have a lively program
of Meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month at
the Cavendish Pavilion, Eastcote, Middlesex. Expert
speakers give illustrated talks on all aspects of geology,
and answer all our questions afterwards. The evening
finishes with refreshments and informal chat. Member's
children, aged 14 upwards, can attend meetings when
accompanied by an adult. Visitors are welcome for a small
donation to the society.
