My Only Love |
Part 1 |

It showed from the beginning how the Planeteers played different roles in their mission. They could even represent different parts of the Captain Planet team: Gi was the body, Kwame was the conscience, Linka was the brains, Ma-Ti was the heart, and Wheeler was the funny bone. All but one Planeteer had tender, friendly minds...all, except for Linka. Her teammates rarely saw her cry (except when she was concerned about her family), she seemed to have a protective bubble around her, and she was overly concerned with getting good grades and getting into medical school. Had she not been a good person, Gaia would not have chosen her to be a Planeteer, but she sure had a tough mind and temper. Her assertive personality kept her out of trouble, but tended to scare people away, which was one reason why she had few friends. Only those who knew her well could see the big heart hidden under her attitude. Especially Wheeler. He had a big part in his heart saved just for her. All his life, he had prayed for someone like her, and was he glad that he finally found her. If only she could correspond his love. But it was hard to figure out her emotions. Still, seeing how much she cared for her siblings and her niece, Wheeler knew Linka had tons of love to give. Linka tended to daydream a lot and got easily distracted. Wheeler wondered what she daydreamed of so much. So he asked Ma-Ti to spy on her using his Heart power. "I cannot do that, amigo!" "Please, dude, please. It's my destiny." "Fine. She is thinking about...chocolate!" "She has a fridge full of chocolate. Why would she be fantasizing about it instead of eating it?" "Hehe, I am just kidding. Her daydreams are very deep. But there is a secret she keeps in her soul." "Secret in her soul? Could be anything as trivial as she being one of the Romanovs," Kwame butted in. "Nah, there has to be something deeper." Wheeler sighed hopefully. "And there is," Ma-Ti reassured his friend. Later that day, Gi and Linka were watching Sailor Moon in Gi's cabin. It was the episode where Serena and Darien revealed to each other their secret identities. Gi noticed that Linka's eyes were teary when the song "My Only Love" played when the Moon Princess, Serena, tried to rescue the Earth Prince, Darien. "What's wrong, Linka?" Gi asked. "Nothing. That's a beautiful song. If only..." "If only what?" "If only I could be the princess and be with my prince forever and ever." "Oh, come on, Linka. Royalty are all a bunch of twits who do nothing but give Ma-Ti stuff to read about." Gi knew about her friend's affinity for gossip. "I'm talking metaphorically. Imagine if I were a princess and I could rescue my prince and tell him how much he means to me." "Go, girl! Never heard you talk like that. Does this prince have a name?" Gi asked suspiciously. "Da, um, nyet, um, nevermind." Linka tried to avoid it. "So that's why you daydream so much?" "Hehe, guess you know the little secret now. But what girl does not dream of her prince?" Linka joked. "I know." Gi dreamed of one too. That night... "Deep in my soul, a love so strong, it takes control. Now we both know, the secret's there, the feelings show. Driven far apart, I'll make a wish, on a shooting star!" Linka sang the Sailor Moon song while playing her keyboard, looking out to the starry night. "There will come a day, somewhere far away, in your arms I'll stay, my only love." Ma-Ti was taking a walk outside Linka's cabin, and he overheard her. "Heart--hehe, just as I suspected. It's mutual, excellent!" Linka noticed that Ma-Ti saw her, and even if he was not the object of her song, she stopped singing. "Linka, don't stop. You play very well." "Oh, thank you. I guess my technque has improved." "You are playing from the heart, that's why it sounds so beautiful." Linka blushed. "It is true, I do. I play for someone special. Chort vozmi!" Linka caught herself. "You shall not tell a word to anyone, especially Wheeler. Here, have some chocolates. Do svidaniya!" "If only you knew, my only love. If only I could tell you. Why are my emotions so bottled up?" Linka thought to herself as she went to sleep. Part 2 |
