Black - The next computer
color? (10/20/02)
Chances are that your
computer color is cream or beige - unless it's a 'newer' computer in
which case it's probably black. Computers have been the same color
for almost two decades. As computers became a piece of furniture
that found a place in almost every modern household demand for more
stylish looks increased. The desktop was phased out a few years ago
in favor of towers which were more easily concealed in cabinets and
under tables. As heat issues arose from computers being crammed into
tight, unventilated spaces, they found their way back into the open.
The attempt of changing the color was welcomed, but not very wide
spread. The company that stuck with it and distinguished themselves
from the rest of the big computer makers was DELL. Even though IBM
was probably the first company to use black for their computer and
has ever since, DELL brought it into the homes of millions. Since
DELL is so popular, other manufacturers are jumping on the
bandwagon. I looked at HP, Compaq, Gateway and other websites and
guess what - their advertised computers all have black cases. A few
years ago, choices for black CD-ROMs and Floppy Drives were slim and
expensive. Nowadays it's the same price for a black monitor vs. a
beige one. Most manufacturers are realizing the demand for black
components are making them available. The variation that seems to go
with black cases and monitors most often is probably silver. Look at
the DELL logo - silver, the front of an HP or Compaq case -
silver. Well, I think it's safe to say
that black is the next computer color. It will probably be accented
with a variety of colors, mostly silver. In the near future one will
be able to tell that a computer is pretty old by looking at it's
beige case.

Welcome Back Students

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome
all new and old students back to Ruston. We hope that your summer
was fun and that the coming school year may be your best. If we can
offer any help with computers, please don't hesitate to let us know.
We are now just across the street. Our Online
Discussion Forums may also be helpful if you need some help
solving a problem or for other computer questions and reviews.

Copy Shop Update
(6/23/02)
For all who have not yet had the chance to stop by
our new location, we have a digital black & white and color
copier. Besides a 6' tall "5 cent copies" sign in the front window
we have not advertised that we have those copiers available. We
would like to thank all who have already used our copy services and
would like to invite everyone else to take advantage of our low 5
cent rate whenever a copy need should arise. We also fax, print,
scan and much more. If the current amount of traffic should continue
to grow as we hope, the Hi-Tech Copy Shop will become more of a
reality. We eagerly await the beginning of fall quarter to see if we
can expand our services.

Online Ordering
Hi-Tech Computers has implemented a new online
ordering system. It will be up and running in a few days. It will
provide us with the capabilities to let you configure and order
custom made systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the
convenience of your home. Please check back often for updates on the
online ordering system.

We Have Moved !!!
It's done. We will officially open for business at
our new location tomorrow, June 1st, 2002. It's been a very long
week for all of us, but we're very proud of what has come of it.
There are many areas we were able to improve in order to better
serve our customers.
- Easier access: Everyone who ever left our
old parking lot around 3:00pm turning left, will know that waiting 2
minutes on a red light sounds absolutely marvelous.
- More Parking: Yes. Finally, we have more
parking. Between Subway's four and our eleven employees we took up
between six and and fifteen parking spaces - every day, all day.
We're delighted to let you know that we have around 25 - 30 parking
spaces available all around our new building, separate from employee
parking.
- More Services: We have added a multitude
of new services like copying, binding, scanning, printing, binding,
PC rental, resume and power point creation and many more to come
soon.
- Online Ordering: It's true - we have a
fully functional online ordering system for home and office
computers, as well as laptops and servers. You can price them, order
them, and even lease them right over the web site. All systems are
build to order and shipped directly to you in just a few short days.
The best part however is, we're beating the pants off the
competitions prices - even Dell and Gateway.
