SCANOGRAPHY |

What Is Scanography? Who Started Scanographing? Why scanograph? |
|||||||||||
1.The scanning of a 3D object on a flatbed scanner. Using a flatbed scanner perspectively to create an illusion of three dimensions or depth. To scan an original piece of 3D art at a very high resolution. 2. As recently as November of 2003 I began scanning miniature roses and tiny african vilolets because I needed something unique and different to fill my portfolio. I first started scanning marigold flowers on my flatbed scanner, at a resolutions of 72ppi then 150 then 300ppi, but a sequence of lines appeared when brought into my photo image software. Also the flatness of the flower defeated the purpose of trying to capture the naturalness of a three dimensional object. So I raised the resolution higher and placed them dimensionally. Which gave me the effect I was looking for. I do not know if any one else is scanographing but I will be glad to say I am the first scanographer. 3. By scanning these flowers dimensionally I eliminate the need for expensive 3D application software. The images are unique, different and original. No film, no photo, no digital camera equipment needed. By scanning digitally I created my own dark room affect. I dropped the sprinkles of water on the roses and others flowers. The scanning process is up to you. You can scan an object 10-20 times if that is what it takes to get the results you want. No money loss in this process and the results are very good. Bring your scano into your favorite image software. Repair,retouch, enhance if need. Bring the ppi down to a workable resolution. And Go From There!
Email me for literature on pressed flower designs or creating scanographs an unconventional method. God Bless.
