Tips:

Different types of habitat yield different types of stones. Stones that have been sculpted by the howling wind, or roughened by ancient glaciers on the move will look different from stones that have been smoothed by a babbling brook.
Remember that shape and texture are more important than color, especially for the pieces you intend to paint.

No matter where you live or travel, each region has a variety of unique stones. Just pick up a handful whenever you stop and you will be surprised at your collection after a few outings.
