Preliminary Competition Rules

Rods, lines, leaders, flies etc.

Only one fly rod may be used at one time.
Factory made floating, sinking or sink-tip lines may be used, but no sinking or floating devices may be used.
Only single barbless  or debarbed hooks are allowed in the EFFC.

Catch & Release Competition

All fish must be landed in nets. With wet hands to protect the fish, the controller removes the hook, conducts the measurements and releases the fish. Netting of the fish must be done by the competitor.

Competition Venues

All competitors will be appointed an individual fishing area, a beat. The beat of each competitor will be determined by random draw.
The competitor must remain within the boundaries of the beat allocated at all times. Fishing outside the beats is not allowed.

Eligible Fish

Only fish hooked in the mouth area, i.e. in front of the gill cover,
will be eligible. A fished hooked inside the time limit is eligible if
it is landed not more than ten minutes after the end of a period.
All fish must be handled with care and wet hands.

Results and scoring

High points on catching fish will add upp to low placing figures.
The winning team is the team with the lowest figure when all the
placing figures of each individual team member  from the periods have been added together.
