The Finesse Game

Langkow is the complete package. The only problem is, it's such a darned small package. Small men can succeed in the NHL, however, and it appears that Langkow could be one of them. He has terrific hockey sense, which is probably his chief asset, to go along with his stickhandling ability and shot. He is a fine passer with good vision and is patient with the puck. He is not shy about shooting and possesses an effective wrist shot and slap shot. Langkow has good speed, spies his options quickly and works hard. He knows what's going to happen before it does, which is the mark of an elite playmaker. He will harass opponents on the forecheck and create turnovers. He could become a soild two-way forward. His defensive awareness is above average for a young player.

The Physical Game

Langkow is a spunky, fast, in-your-face kind of player. He has a little sandpaper in his game, which gives him an edge over small forwards who rely only on their finesse skills. He doesn't mind aggravating people, and he'll throw punches at far bigger men. He won't be intimidated, either, and does his scoring in the trenches despite getting hit. He has a high pain threshold.
