Pastor's Corner

October 2004

According to an old legend, a man became lost in his travels and wandered into a bed of quicksand. Confucius saw the man's predicament and said, "It is evident that men should stay out of such places as this." Let that man's plight be a lesson to te rest of the world." Then Mohammed came by and said to the sinking man, Alas, it is the will of God." Finally Jesus appeared. "Take my hand brother," hye said, and I will save you."
We see the po0wer of the Christian message in this simple legend. Jesus came to save his people from their sin. He brought us to God with His word of forgiveness and his act of love. Testified to by the prophets, authenticated by the miracles and forever pr4oven by His resurrection we all know Jesus Saves.    But, what is that to the person who has not accepted or found salvation? Untill the meaning of Christ's forgiveness touches oiur individual lives we are in no better shape that the one who follows Hinduism or Buddhism. We need to get the message out. Jesus Saves! Our outreach is done one on one with the people we contact on a daily basis. It is best done when we have earned the right to speac to the people through a variety of contacts. People I have led to Christ have been those people to whom I have had given enougj time to that they were ready and willing to listen. People will come to know and accept Jesus when we treat them with the respect and as friends. Careful nmurture of relationships with people is one of the strongest and most lasting forms of evangelism that we use.
