Jean's Biograpy:
I was born in Benin in a small village called Agonlin. My father was a farmer. I was born and three days later my mother died. During the same year my father died. I was an orphan so it was very difficult to find the means to go to school. It was one of my older brothers who helped me by putting me in school and three years later he died too. That was how I started a difficult life. I had to pay my sculpture appreticeship myself in the 1970's and I finished in 1975. I didn't have any support, but I became a sculpteur anyway. Today I live in Allada, Benin where I work as a wood sculpteur.
Je suis née au Bénin dans un petit village qui s'appel Agonlin. Mon papa était un cultivateur. Je suis née et trois jours après ma mère est morte. Dans la même année mon père aussi est mort. Donc je suis devenir orphelin. Pour aller a l'école c'était difficile. C'était mon grand frère qui m'a mis a l'école et trois ans après, il est mort aussi. Ainsi j'ai commencé une vie difficile. C'est moi même qui a payé le contrat de mon apprentissage de la sculpture dans les années 70. J'ai fini en 1975. En gros je n'avait pas de soutien et je suis devenu sculpteur de toute façon. Je vies à Allada, Bénin actuellement où je travaille comme sculpteur en bois.
