The Window of Worlds (Books)
This store isn't much to look at from the street. An old, peeling sign boldly carved with "The Window of Worlds" hangs above the small front door. But, once inside, it is a perfect labyrinth of books of all shapes and sizes. The books can be bought or traded. The owner of the establishment is Fflanders Gwuiden, a tall old man with the same dusty smell as his books. He can find any book in the store five minutes, and he knows them all by name. But, if you come to him for help, he will most likely come back with a different book than the one you asked for, insisting, "Really, this is just the book you need!"
And it usually is.

The Candlemaker (Candles)
This shop has no written sign, the proprietor is unable to write and refused to have something he couldn't read. Instead he commisioned a wrought iron three prong candelabra that is visible outside his shop. Inside the front half of the shop Adan Clabber sells the various tallow and beeswax candles he makes in his workshop to the rear. He sells normal candles but also has some aromatic ones he makes using herbs he purchases from his friend Herbert Huft IV. Although the Tallow candles being the cheapest are the most sought after he tries to make them only one day a week because of the smell, making the scented candles the following day.

The Rising Phoenix (Tavern)
The Rising Phoenix has been a Briarsville mainstay for as long as anyone can remember. The tavern earned its name after surviving both Briarsville's tumultuous past and its own tendency to attract mayhem and destruction. The Phoenix has a large, jovial front room (complete with pretty serving girls) and a secluded, cozy back room (presided over by proprietress Rena Fenley). Travelers come for the atmosphere—locals come to watch the travelers in the highly respectable Old Quarter and enjoy the wine stored in the fire-proof cellar.
The Rose and Ladle (Tavern)
The Rose and Ladle is a small, cheery tavern complete with pink floral wallpaper, recently aquired by Benjamin Nydell and his wife Helena. The Nydells run a nice little tavern in an eminently respectable neighborhood. Due to Helena's recent pregnacy, service has been unpredictable of late... but the tavern is always friendly and the lunch crowd is loyal.
The Green Fox Inn (Inn/Tavern)
Located in an upscale area of the Travelers Quarter, the Green Fox Inn is a high quality establishment that caters to a very specific clientele: travelers with pets, or, as they term it, "animal companions." Although it is not normal to travel with house pets, many of Briarsville's visitors do have animals with them—mages bring familiars, and one never knows what might walk out of the Forest. Most establishments permit familiars and unusual companions, but the Green Fox openly invites them. The inn is equiped to handle unusual and suprising guests of any type imaginable, and, though its prices are slightly high, patrons seem to think it's worth it.
