The World Beyond the Forest

Early in the summer of 2001, Kat at I spent an evening closeted in my room discussing maps. The Briarsville forum had just opened, and we needed to know what was beyond the Forest. The first thing that came out of this enterprise was the Rising Phoenix floor plan, but we also briefly discussed the kingdoms beyond Briarsville. From that (rather confused) discussion, Kat drew me this lovely preliminary map. Isn't it nifty?
Since this map came from very sketchy ideas a very long time ago, some things have changed since then. However, I decided to leave the map in it's original form. (Although I did shrink it so it would fit on one screen and load faster.) It's infinitely prettier when I don't mess with it!
The political boundaries are by necessity fairly vague here. Each area (North, South, Mountain, etc.) represents a group of kingdoms, principalities, city-states, and the like tied together by some sort of unifying factor. They do not necessarily call themselves the name they are given on the map—these are the general names that might be used unofficially or by outsiders.
