August 7: A Voice From the Past

At Homeland Security

Still: sunbeamed dust flits.
Bare wall echoes unheard call.
At a desk, Ridge sits.

---- Will Warren, and there's more!

The first thing this morning, I threatened the furniture guy. I said he'd had a month to pick up this stuff, and that we were having the sale on Friday and Saturday, and the dumpster next week, and I would assume anything he hadn't picked up, he didn't want.

Out at the house, we had a big surprise. The furniture guy has not yet turned up. Rich helped me move the bedheads along the wall so I can use them to display stuff for the estate sale. He found a low table that matched the carving of the desk the furniture guy did take. Then he went back to the garage, and found yet another old answering machine. You play it, and there is Gerhard, announcing that he is Napoleon, and leave a message. When his attendants, uh, that is, his affairs of state, allow, he'll get back to you.

The tape is a special kind, so I'll want to copy it, and at the moment we don't have a microphone to do it. I'll get to it. Sigh.

I think we'll be able to finish setting up tomorrow. The neighbors have been by to check on the house. I can hardly wait to finish this and turn it over to the realtor!
