September 16: Many Softballs

I decided to get up and walk with Rich (who really would prefer to drive over because his foot hurts). We passed a school bus picking up a neighbor teen at 0630. Ouch. The exciting thing is that I found 12 softballs! Rich got four himself, and would have picked up most of my finds if I hadn't seen them first, but still. I also waved at Commander Bill, and I swear he waggled his wings. (He was probably just adjusting his route a little, but on the other hand I was standing out all by myself, quite visible, if he actually looked when I was waving.)

Bowling went pretty well, too. As a team we won three. I had 149, 117, 122 and a personal best 4 splits in one game. I raised my average from 105 to 117! It's still not where it belongs, but it's a lot closer. The cancer codger is still feeling well, but his bowling's off. He raised his average to 144. The other one is still on fire, though he dropped his average to 134. Rich got a free game, and both he and I missed our $4 lunches. His average is down to 163.

Lileks talks about kiddie movies.

A good lesson for age 2 - a comforting lesson, really. I want her to grow up with trust in people’s goodness as her baseline belief, with the notion that the Good is a thing which draws people to it when they truly understand it. Children have a binary conception of the world, and I’d rather teach her on than off. After that we’ll work on the details.
