October 13: I Don't Remember the Future Well, Either

A couple of weeks ago, I swear I heard something about a bombing in Bangla Desh. But then, I found nothing about it on the web or in the news. I was puzzled, and told Rich that if he heard of a bombing there in the future, he had to start believing in my precognitive powers. (I do have moments, though most of them were back in my teens.)

So, was it Bali, not Bangla Desh? I think maybe so, and I don't feel all that terrific about it. (With Kuwait, Finland, France, and our Washington sniper/nutcase, I think these are death-throes. It'll get worse before it gets better.)

You know, reading about Journalcon, I think I'd have hated it. I knew I didn't want to go, but I thought it was more because it was too close to ConJose2002. Then I read about "panels" and I start to shudder. This is just so NOT my scene. The little local meetings are all right, and I like meeting people, but it's SFCons or Bouchercons, not Journalcons, for me.

Although this could change my mind.

Our plant booth got $147. This is better than I thought. Hey, it's not the biggest donor at the church fair, but still it's a lot when it's all donation, thankyouverymuch.

I spent some time today writing out my approval of Gerhard's credit card bills. Now I have to copy everything and get the neighbor to sign them and make sure the right check and information ends up in the right envelope. Yeah, right. I'm bound to mess it up.

Falwell apologized, after a riot by Islamists, who resented being called violent, killed a lot of people. Sorry, I think he should have stood by his (non-PC, but correct) words.
