"Symbol Chaser" is a new spokenword album by Frances Tang with accompannying soundtracks by Melbourne musician/composer Leigh Ryan a.k.a Plutonic Lab.

"Symbol chaser", in particular, focuses on new creative expression of the east/west hybrid culture of Australia. Reflecting upon our epoch of rapid social technological change in the nemesis of forming new bielieve structures, Tang 'spoken word combines structures of Chinese poetics in a cyber context, exploring the nodes of east and west, the body and universe.

The literary themes explored in the cut up prose/poetry are ecology, urban/cyber reality, emotional transgression, philosophy and transcendence of cultural barriers. Frances Tang's spoken word/poetry has been received at Melbourne Fringe Festival, Next Wave festival, Australian National Poetry Festival and live broadcasts on 3PBS, 3RRR.

Deriving from a Hip Hop/dub structure, Leigh Ryan's sound production implies digital sampling as an integral part of his style. Influenced by the seminal Ambient works of Brian Eno fused with the sonic deconstruction and Dub Terrorism of Drum and Bass producers, Ryan's soundtracks range from ambient sound sculptures, futuristic Hip-Hop beats to dark electro. The diversity of Leigh's work is presented in art installations, film, documentaries, performance soundtracks, and CD recordings.

Leigh has toured extensively, playing events with overseas artists such as Tricky, DJ Shadow, UFO, DJ Krush, Charlie Hunter Trio, Money Mark and Spearhead, as well as local productions nationally. His music has received airplay throughout Australia, including various live to air broadcasts and recordings for Creative Vibes, 183 and Nuffsaid records.
