2004 December 26 - "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln, 1864 November 21

>>> All presidents are evil at some point or another. Democrats have done just as many despicable things as Republicans
Clinton failed to oppose abortion, and couldn't keep his pants zipped. Carter failed to cheer up America after Nixon's disgrace, and lost Iran. I really can't think of a polite way to compare them to Reagan:
School of the Americas, Iran-Contra, Saddam Hussein, Efrain Rios Montt, Manuel Noriega, Augusto Pinochet, Gustavo Alvarez, Roberto D'Aubuisson, Samuel Doe, Apartheid South Africa, Osama Bin Laden. And many others.
>>> and half of the things that presidents get praised or razed for aren't even their own doing.
Intentionally training & arming terrorists & torturers was entirely the work of the Reagan/Bush White House. It wasn't the courts or Congress (in fact, they made it illegal, but Reagan did it anyways). It wasn't private citizens, or economic cycles, or random misfortune. His administration is personally responsible for the rise of most of the evil leaders in the past 20 years.
Reagan was a nice man, he made America happy again, and he hastened the inevitable fall of the Soviet bloc. Was it worth it?

At least four members of the Massachusetts Supreme Court are (in formal medical terms) apeshit bumfuck crazy.
As of 2004, a narrow majority of Americans might be willing to accept legal benefits for "domestic partnerships" or "civil unions" or whatever you call pseudo-marriages. However, a strong majority is deeply opposed to gay people using the real "M" word. If you force everyone to choose between full gay marriage and nothing, then the nothing side is going to win.
Cany you say "wedge issue"? Fundamentalist "Defense of Marriage" groups will out in force this November. It's as if the Justices actively wanted to be slapped down by the religious right.
2004 February 3 - A campaign speech suggestion
In an election year, while burning a billion dollars a week in the Middle East, after turning a budget surplus into a record deficit, George Jr decides he wants to spend a trillion dollars sending us on a Mission to Mars.
Is he on drugs? Again?
