Born in 1533 in Japan

Raised Buddhist; convert.
Married and father of one son.
His wife returned to her Buddhist roots; the two separated, and placed with child with a Christian family.
Worked as a layman for the Jesuits in Osaka, Japan.
Novice Coadjutor Brother.
Arrested with Paul Miki.
One of the Martyrs of Nagasaki.

Died  martyred by crucifixion on 5 February 1597

Beatified 14 September 1627 by Pope Urban VIII

Canonized on 8 June 1862 by Pope Pius IX
