Hello: |
My name is Shasta. That's me you see poking through that little window to the left. |
I am a yellow labrador retriever. I was born in Ontario Canada at Canine Vision Canada. I lived at that school for 7 weeks with my brothers and sisters and my mother and all her friends. |
When I was 7 weeks old I was taken by a nice couple to live with them. At first I was really upset that I was taken from my family but I soon learned that these people had all kinds of fun things for me to learn. I got to learn how to sit, stay, lay down when asked, not to bed (that was the hardest one for me) and to walk nicely on a leash. |
I made lots of friends both in the human world and in my dog world like my foster brother. He already knew some of this stuff that I had to learn. I started to notice that there were some things I was learning that he wasn't learning. There were also some times he didn't come with us when we went out. |
When we did go out, had to wear a jacket that said "Guide Dog Puppy In Training". Now I didn't know what a guide dog was but I was good when I wore that jacket. |
I noticed that when I was wearing the jacket I had to be extra good. I wasn't allowed to take food from people, sniff on the ground or at anything I liked. and my foster Mom wouldn't let anybody pet me. I didn't like any of these rules. |
I also noticed that whenever I had the jacket on I got to go into stores, restaraunts, malls (shopping was my favorite) and even to my foster Mom's work place. I got to ride on escalators, buses and elevators. |
