Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 27th June, 1985, Svetlana Kuznetsova is one of the most respected and popular stars of the WTA Tour. Having already achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2, this talented and highly-athletic 24-year-old has been touted as a future Number One player and with very good reason.
Since turning professional in 2000, Svetlana has shown the world her tremendous ability by winning her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2004 US Open and then reaching the finals of the 2006 French Open and 2007 US Open. Then, five years after winning her first Grand Slam, she claimed the 2009 French Open crown. Svetlana is also an Australian Open doubles champion. |
Having already won two major singles titles, Svetlana has steadily accumulated approximately US$3,233,841 in prizemoney this year, placing her 3rd on the WTA money leaders list. And with her consistent performances at major tournaments, one can rest soundly knowing that her future finances are in good hands.
Physically fit, mentally tough, and naturally introverted, Svetlana Kuznetsova is guaranteed an audience whenever she plays. Known for her shyness as much as her powerful groundstrokes, Svetlana has won many fans en route to the summit of women's tennis and will undoubtedly continue to do so for many years to come. A truly tenacious young Russian. |

Svetlana likes to stay active away from the tennis court and during the off-season can often be found slicing up the European ski fields on her favourite snowboard. |
