The Vancouver Ferry

Back to the ferry, where once again we found ourselves among the last to board. How quickly we become complacent with our surroundings. Unlike the first trip, where we spent most of our time on deck gaping at the scenery, the return trip was spent inside, some reading, others sleeping.

Off the ferry and on the road again, destination, Kamloops. Most of us were fascinated by the scenery which went from majestic to desolate. I say most of us because Nathan slept through most of this leg.

Looking down (of course) at Hell's Gate Sometime in the afternoon, we took the tram down the canyon to a place known as Hell's Gate, the narrowest point of the mighty Frazier River. This river, like most of the rivers we saw, was unusually high and overflowing its banks, adding much to the ruggedness of the scenery throughtout our trip. We soon found out that while the road to Hell (a tram in this case) may be easy, it sure ain't cheap. After tickets, some smoked salmon and a $50 coin purse (that's Canadian dollars), we were off again.

Kamloops found us staying at a 4 Points Sharaton that was so new, the pool was not yet completed. This was Nathan's favorite accomodations of the trip (city boy). Being tired and time lagged, the 3 of us thought that pizza delivered to the room would be preferable to piling back into that contortion van and searching for a resturant. Mom and Dad were of a different opinion. Fortunately, God was with us as we quickly found a place called Boston Pizza (I hear they make chicken too), which offered Greek salad and "non-stop pop" served by a displaced Aussie. Bed never felt better.
