Generation 1

Johann Martens Campen was a farmer at Hage and Ostermarsch, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Germany.  He married Foolke Gerdes.  They had at least one child:

Generation 2

Gerd Behrends Campen was born c1812 at Hage, Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany and died 1 July 1873 at Norden, Niedersachsen, Germany.  He was a store owner at Norden, Niedersachsen, Germany. He married Emansia Margaretha Edinga 12 January 1840 at Norden, Niedersachsen, Germany.  She was born c1814 at Hage, Niedersachsen, Germany and was the daughter of Edo Mammen Edinga.  She died 30 December 1901 at Norden, Niedersachsen, Germany.  They had the following children (the sons all immigrated to the US):

  3. Edward Campen
  4. Bernhard Campen
  5. Anton F. Campen
  6. Martin Jacob Campen
  7. Emanzia Kampen

Generation 2

Martin Jacob Campen was born 15 January 1854 at Norden, Hannover Province, Prussia. Norden is presently located in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany near the North Sea and the Holland border. He died 2 February 1929 at Vancouver, Clark Co., WA. He immigrated to the US and c1871 removed from Illinois to Portland, OR. About 1876 he moved to Washougal, Clark Co., WA. He married Margaret Goebel (aka Margaretha Knoblauch) 17 December 1876 at Mt. Norway, Washougal, Clark Co., WA. She was born 22 February 1857 at Hettersroth, Germany and died 1936 at Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. For further information on her ancestry see the Goebel Family. They moved to Rushville, Schuyler Co., IL for a time but returned c1883 to Washougal. About 1888 they purchased a 160 acre farm adjoining the Ackers' farm and c1907 purchased a smaller farm closer to town (Washougal). They had the following children:

Generation 3

Wilhelmina Emanzia "Minnie" Campen was born 2 November 1879 at Rushville, Schuyler Co., IL and died 3 November 1974 at Camas, Clark Co., WA. She married Heinrich Peter "Henry" Scherpf 22 March 1897 at Washougal, Clark Co., WA. He was born 22 November 1867 at Burgbracht, Hessen, Germany and died 31 May 1945 at Washougal, Clark Co., WA. For futher information about him see the Scherpf Family. Both are buried at Washougal Memorial Cemetery and were members of Bethel Congregational Church at Washougal, WA. They had the following children:
