- Kate's eyes have the ability to change colours, though involuntary. Her eye colours transform to purple, black, and blue, when facing the light. In darkness, they change to a glowing bright blue enabling her to be spotted at a distance. This is due to her Nuimon heritage. The eye colour change has no effect on her sight.

Appearance: Medium athletic built. Fair complexion. Speaks with a rich Scottish accent. One would be unable to recognize that she is only part human, due to her exact similarity in appearance to a full human. Her wardrobe is most often casual.

Personality:Kate is generally very outgoing, outspoken and quite opinionated. She always states her opinions to superior officers, but will follow orders, even though she doesn't always agree with them. She has a great sense of humour and always found a way to crack a joke, though at times she had annoyed her superiors by that. During her off-duty hours, she engages in socializing, works on her hobbies and generally has fun most of the time.

Kathryn is passionate about her work, and is very determined to ensure the health of every patient, is well taken care of. She would go as far as chasing someone down, who attempted to miss his or her routine physicals.

She is a vegetarian, and very conscious about maintaining her health. She maintains her fitness on a regular basis. Kate's daily meals mostly encompass healthy foods, including a glass of milk, every morning and avoid coffee. Although, she does occasionally indulge in certain foods and beverages that are not usually what nutritionists consider to be healthy, as she believes eating or drinking those kind of stuff is harmless when not overdoing it.

Unless one wanted to raise her ire, they need to avoid calling her, 'Kitty'.

Background History

Kathryn MacNeil, commonly addressed as Kate, was born during the summer months in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, EARTH. Kate led a happy and normal childhood, until her teens. At the age of 13, Kate began experiencing unusual changes in her eye colour, though at the time she never realized it was due to her 'unknown' race heritage. Her parents, Malcolm and Elizabeth, did not want to reveal that particular information to her, out of protection and those actions led Kate and everyone else in the family, school and neighbourhood to believe the young girl to be suffering from some sort of disease or genetic mutation, though that phenomenon garnered Starfleet Medical's attention, who decided to observe her at a distance. Kate's peers at school began to tease her. On her 15th birthday, Kate discovered her true heritage after overhearing a heated conversation between Malcolm and Elizabeth. After having confronted her parents, she was told Elizabeth was not her real mother and that she was only part human. She found out that Malcolm, prior to meeting his wife, Elizabeth, met Kate's biological mother, who went by the name of 'Jane Darius' on a transport, returning from BAJOR. The pair fell in love, instantly and lived together for close to a year. Right after Kathryn was born, 'Jane' revealed to Malcolm she was not human and just took off with no explanation, other than providing a warning to watch for eye colour changes in their daughter.

While Kate was relieved it was not a disease or mutation, she became very angry with Malcolm and Elizabeth for keeping the truth from her and ran away. She made her way to London. In order to survive, she took up a job with a theatre group, performing menial tasks for the players. During that time, she began to take an interest in acting, and eventually became a member of the group. For six months, Kate started to perform well as an actress, but also began to reflect on all that had happened in her life. She slowly understood why her parents kept the secret from her. Eventually, Kate parted from the theatre group and returned home.

After completing her schooling at the age of 18, Kate decided to apply for Starfleet Academy, in order to go on a quest to find the species, her biological mother belonged to. Unfortunately, she failed to be accepted. Not one to be discouraged from her goals, Kate joined a civilian archaeological expedition that traveled to a deserted planet, just outside of the Federation border, to excavate the ruins of an extinct civilization.

Two years later, upon the completion of the project and by encouragement from her Deltan mentor, a former Starfleet officer, Kayne Zeldon, Kate applied for Starfleet Academy again and this time, she was accepted. Kate, at first, decided to major in Science, with a specialization in Archaeology. However, before entering her second year, she later realized that her interests actually were in the field of Medicine, and decided to switch. She ended up graduating with a general diploma in Medicine, with specializations in Genetics and Alien Biology.

Her first assignment was on the USS ICARUS as Assistant Chief Medical Officer. A little more than a year later, she was reassigned to the GATEWAY STATION as Chief Medical Officer.

In 2421, Kathryn had discovered the identity of her birth mother's race known as the Nuimons, which led to a mission undertaken by the GATEWAY senior staff to NUMINO (Nuimons' homeworld) to establish first contact. It was during the mission, Kate had finally met her birth mother, Dahlis Alenvin who was the Chief Consul of the planet's Ruling Council as well as other relatives on her mother's side. However, at the moment, Dahlis' connection to Kate is still kept a secret (known only to very few people), due to certain laws in NUMINO

Kathryn was assigned to Starfleet’s only trans-dimensional ship, USS PROPHECY as Chief Medical Officer. During her time there, Kate had undergone many trials and tribulations, more than she had in her entire career. In early 2422, when the crew of the PROPHECY were on shore leave in the arctic world, ANDALUSIA VII, Kate and some of her fellow crewmates including her CO, Mad’hron Zanders ended up locked in the holosuites along with thousands of other customers. Things went from bad to worse, when borg nannites inserted into the holosuite systems by Kate’s friend, Ronnie Zanders in an attempt to fix the problem, began assimilating everyone who was trapped. Kathryn was the unfortunate victim in a plan gone wrong.

Kate’s assimilation got reversed due to a virus created by Peter Aspinall and her assistant, Aerdan Jos and thus returned back to her human form. However the experience had traumatized her very badly, making her feel ashamed and doubtful of herself. She did manage to slowly make the effort to heal her pain by helping treat other victims who underwent similar experiences.
