April 2004
Okay! Have just returned from Europe and had a pretty good time. It would have been better to have been able to spend more time in London as opposed to Brussels, but what the hey. The atmosphere at LHR didn't seem particularly tense this time around either, which was nice. Decided to try that "have a smoked salmon salad at the seafood bar" routine so as to be able to fast on the plane. Worked out great. Was chuffed as this trip was the first time on BA and the tea was just "purrfect."
Do you get that feeling of being "here, there, everywhere" d, when you shuttle across time zones, fly up and down and all around? Time no longer matters and borders seem irrelevant if there is no need to clear through immigration at the airport? Even languages seem to become just different expressions of the same emotions that we all feel? I hope it is a positive sign that none of this travelling and being in various places disconcerts me anymore, but, rather, makes me feel serene. Maybe this is what travelling in time and space is all about and one doesn't need a time machine to feel this sense of being and nothingness at that same time. You know what I mean?
Peace,
frances
