dear damon
November 2006
Bravo and congratulations on the series of The Good, The Bad and The Queen gigs. Thank goodness for YouTube and the like for providing us with the feeling of having been right there. The feeling I get from The Good, The Bad & The Queen's music is an amalgamation of: Elvis, The Stones and the Beatles with a good dollop of damon albarn-ness thrown in for good measure. Lemme explain...It's Elvis circa the early 50s Sun Records years (it's the soulfulness minus the hyperness)...It's the Stones' "Gimme Shelter" intro harmonization on "Herculean" in a minor tone...It's the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" mixed in with harmonization...It's simply beautiful!
contently yours,
frances
