dear damon

May 2009

April showers have turned into May showers here across the Pond. Hope this letter finds you in good spirits this month. I am feeling very positive about life in general and filled with joy when I think about blur and how all of you are preparing for the gigs coming up next month and July. I got a mailing recently that reminded me that I am also going to Lyon to see blur there. I wish I could go to the June gigs, especially as they are at more intimate venues, some at locations that have sentimental meaning for you, but, alas, must forgo those as the dates are not close enough to the July Hyde Park and Lyon ones and because I am not a person of that much leisure. ;)

I watched the Joe Strummer documentary and was happy to see you sitting around the fire with joy radiating from within. It must have been special to have been able to share some time with him and others at the Festival. Speaking of movies I watched another that I've been meaning to for awhile now. You know how I like the blues and try to watch movies that feature the blues, as well. In this one, the protagonist is reminded to "stand still and to dig deep" and she does and her song touches us who listen. I remember how it has always been your standing still and digging deep within your soul that moves me to no end. I was there when you sang "This is a Low," "Hong Kong," "Sunset Coming On" and "Farmer in the City." To be able to stand as witness to your weaving an invisible thread of humanity through all of us to show us how we all are One is one of the precious gifts I've received from your music. It is with gratitude that I continue to stand witness.

Namaste,
frances
