Name that Tune!

Did a blur song ever remind you of another song?

March 1999

"Oooh my little pretty one, my pretty one, when you're you gonna give me some time, Sharona."@Yes, it's got a beat, you can dance to it, and we did as it stayed in the number one slot for weeks in 1979. It's got a backbeat you can use it, and blur speeded it up and used it in their worldwide smash, "Song 2." damon said in an interview that it was a song for the headbangers and was it ever! The headbangers of the world united for this one probably because it appealed to the basic human pleasure center (whatever the heck that's supposed to mean-well, you get the drift, right?)

"My Sharona" by The Knack and "Song 2" by blur also share an exclamation, "Whoo!" In "My Sharona" it's just one big "Whoo!" whereas in "Song 2" it's a "Whoo-Hoo!" We listeners/dancers are reduced to an infantile state when we shout these words out loud and that's why these songs touch us in the most primordial of places in our psyche.
