History

Operating since 1974 as a branch office of Family Enrichment and Counselling Service, Family Service Moncton, Inc. received its charter as an independent, fully autonomous organization on October 21, 1985. The agency began to deliver services under the new name on January 1, 1986.

Funding

There are several stakeholders in the financial viability of Family Service Moncton. These include the United Way, the government of New Brunswick, the government of Canada, churches, the town of Riverview, town of Dieppe, and other private individuals and groups.

The historical pattern of deriving a high percentage of grants and donations from the United Way and government has evolved into an entrepreneurial position where most of our revenue is earned from income from the sale of counselling, educational, consulting and training services.

Currently, about 88% of our income comes from the sale of our services and about 12% comes from donation which are essential in the provision of services to low income families.
