Algemeen

Onderzoek betreft wetenschapsbeoefening in de zin van het verzamelen en analyseren van gegevens het vakgebied rakende, ten behoeve van het innoveren en eventueel 'nieuw creëren' van inzichten c.q. producten. Naast de wetenschappers binnen de richting, zijn het vooral de studenten die in het kader van de opleiding (onderzoeksoefeningen, stages, afstudeerwerken) worden ingezet bij het verrichten van wetenschappelijk onderzoek.

Enkele onderzoeksprojecten:

· Master education and research programme on sustainable management of natural resources (technical)

Doel: To educate sufficient MSc students in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS) and to increase the academic standards of research in the technical fields of SMNR at AdeKUS, and to contribute to Sustainable Management of Natural Resources resulting in the further development of society

Comprehensive Water Management Pilot Project

Doel: Develop a holistic approach for a sustainable integrated water management in the MCP area. The project will be divided into two phases, phase one entails a feasibility study on technical and financial feasibility on application of remote sense devices to foster the present water management level, and elaborate on alternative approaches for maintenance of the canal. Specific objectives for phase 1: To enhance and promote wise use of the freshwater resources of the MCP area; Develop a project proposal for setting up an infrastructure for integrated water management site at MCP; To set up an infrastructure for field data collection, including data transfer and exchange; Develop protocol for environment friendly maintenance of MCP canal; Training technicians remote sensing, collecting and operation of instruments (devices) and processing of data.
