The Fruits of the Grace of the Passion
| VII. Fulget Crucis Mysterium ! The Cross shines forth in mystic glow: the leaves are for the healing of the nations. The fruits of the passion of Christ rain down on the world, giving rise to self-sacrifice and holiness, wisdom and compassion. The Virgin Mother holds and feeds the Child Jesus. The three fruit trees mirror the fecundity of the Holy Trinity at the center of the world, the Mediterranean, where divine revelation was written down and first proclaimed: the fig the olive, and the grape, which are solemnly grown at the center of the Roman Forum even to the present day. Their juice (Italian, succo) blends in one single substance (Greek: ousia), which is Eternal Love. |
