St Mary's church at Sutton Cum Duckmanton is where a few of my ancestors
were married and buried. A friend of mine Phil Unwin went there for me
and took some great photo's for me.
I don't know the year this church was built or stopped being used but Sutton
and Duckmanton formed a single parish in 1558, so it must have been built
before then. They demolished the church at Duckmanton and kept the one
at Sutton. Sir Francis Leeke was to be the owner and Patron of this church.
As you can see by the photo's it was a beautiful place and still is in it's own unique way.
These are the ruins of Suttton Scraesdale Hall, which is next
to
St Mary's church. Click here
for more info.

See the headstones for James
Fidler & for John
& Sarah Glossop who were cousins. Sarah remarried Thomas Sales
/ Sails after John died but she was still buried with John Glossop when
she died. Is that romantic for that era or were they pre paid???
I have the parish records 1662-1837
if anyone wants any birth, Deaths or Marriages from it.
