"Oh my god! Get him a hospital!"
Oh my god... get me some aspirin, Karen thought to herself as police sirens blared out emergency signals.
The old guy at the ranch had finally croaked. He was just hammering some bothersome rocks when suddenly, his dog came and ran into the old man's legs. He lost his balance, fell, and recieved a heart attack.
Karen chuckled. So the dog had pushed his owner down; what ever happened to the old sayings about how a dog is a man's best friend or how dogs are sooooo loyal.
As the heart attack victim was strolled away and into the ambulance vehicle, Karen scoffed. Aren't you supposed to feel pity at times like these? Aren't you supposed to cry for the deceased, even hen you don't know them well? She was weird this way. Perhaps she was missing a pity gene or something scientific... whatever. Karen didn't care. She detested biology and all sorts of science from back in the city.
Later that day, the mayor called the old man's closest relative. Since his son was busy, the mayor had his grandson come. He was to arrive next week. As if i care, Karen whispered to herself. Now that she thought about it, the mayor had also annouced that the grandson, Jack, was just around her age. Perhaps they could become good friends and elope back to the city. Uhhh... no. Karen didn't even know if Jack was as handsome as a prince, or as ugly as an ogre. Besides, she was thinking too far ahead. What if Jack didn't like her?
No, let me rephrase that, what if I don't like him? It was impossible for anyone to hate her. She was, of course, the smartest and prettiest person in this whole town of hillbillies.
Argh, I'm thinking WAY too much... Karen retreated to her home, where her mother was waiting for her. Karen tried to avoid her mother. She didn't want to talk since she had a big headache. But...
"Karen..."
"WHAT?" Karen was always impatient.
"Are you going to the old man's funeral tomorrow?"
"Uh... no?
