Often in "trick questions," hinderances are incorporated into the problem to impede the problem-solver's ability to quickly solve the problem.

The first way, which we have already discussed, is incubation. This optional stage of problem solving helps the solver to rid his mind of incorrect ideas before attempting it again. insight, which was briefly mentioned earlier, is the second way of overcoming hindrances.

The last way to overcome hindrances is creative thinking. Creative problem solving is tied closely with brainstorming in that the ideas created in the process should be new and radical. However, in creative thinking, as opposed to just brainstorming, the ideas are further combined and refined to come up with the final solution(s).
