Furniture Warehouse and Inventory
The most important thing in the furniture industry and the most neglected.
If you were
to look at it from this angle you would get a better understanding besides
the actual
manufacture who produced the item the shipping/delivery component is the only
thing
that if it was removed there is no furniture industry. Try this the store
owner is the vendor
the sales associate is the rep for the vendor but the delivery driver is the
closer.
The warehouse should be treated as well as the showroom some have embraced
this idea
to a point they make their showroom as a warehouse shopping experience. With
the right
product and price point this works well. I have turned a small warehouse around
15,000
square feet and with just properly using the racking system was able to squeeze
36
more complete living room SKU's. Have experience running a 50,000 sq warehouse
with
4 semis incoming and 10 delivery trucks doing 8 to 10 stops. Including a repair
and prep
department with will call pick ups and trucks doing showroom changes and service
calls.
Tracking inventory for up to 8 store locations not just special orders but
keeping stock
levels to desired point. Do the physical inventory I have converted stores
to bar coding
system to control inventory. Worked managing a distribution center handling
9 locations
as well as bringing in containers and handle them from dock to showroom.
