C. S. Lewis, Page 2: nonfiction works

Below you will find listings for individual books stocked by Amazon.com. You will notice that many titles come in more than one edition, so I have tried to give you as much information as possible to help you make your selection. Note: A book graphic next to a title indicates that I personally have read and enjoyed this book. In fact, it may very well be in my own library.

Writings on Christianity and Ethics: Since Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters are by far the most popular of Lewis' Christian writings, I have listed them separately from the rest.
Mere Christianity: A series of brief, brilliant discourses defending Christianity and its disparate elements. Here more than in any of his other books, Lewis demonstrates the ability to say something profound in such a down-to-earth, reasonable way that you scratch your head and ask yourself, "Now, why didn't I think of that?" Absolutely one of my favorite books of all time. As an added bonus, the chapters are just the right length for daily devotions.
The Screwtape Letters: In a series of letters, the demon Screwtape instructs his protegee Wormwood on the fine art of corrupting a human soul--and in the process, Lewis instructs us on pitfalls to avoid. Brilliant, fascinating, and deeply profound.

Writings on Literature: After all, Lewis was an Oxford don.
